How does it work?
We are so passionate about the power of elderberries that we have three options for delivery - a tincture/syrup combination, extract and this alcohol-free syrup.
All of our elderberry products are RAW. Never heated. And why? Because boiling destroys the vast majority of the nutrients available in elderberries.
There seems to be a general consensus amongst elder-enthusiasts that "Facts don't matter when its yummy!" However, we are here to give you two good pieces of news:
1. Facts matter - those boiled elders are largely useless and the benefits you're getting are, in most part, derived from the added ingredients like cloves/cinnamon, etc The good news here is that our formulas have preserved all of the benefits not only of those other ingredients but also of the elderberries themselves.
2. Our products are still delicious! Well, the jury is still out on the extract, but the other two certainly are a treat.
We hear some of you saying "Ahh but you're wrong - the studies show that elderberry syrup is a wonderful medicine!" But, actually, they don't. The studies, every single one we have ever been able to get our hands on, show that elderberry *extract* is a wonderful medicine. That is - the raw berry extract!
3. Since our extracts are so potent, you only need a small amount to get amazing benefits. So, whilst they might cost a little more initially, they last so much longer and end up saving you!

Red elders - traditionally used to purge the body of sickness via diarrhoea and vomiting. Raw seeds can be harmful so I suggest not consuming these unless you know what you’re doing.
Blue elders - have in moderation.
Black - go for it but still consume sensibly if having raw.
Boiling kills so much of the elderberry’s power. Every single study on their benefit is done on elderberry *extract* & never the boiled berry!
WHAT'S IN AN ELDERBERRY?
Vitamin C
antioxidant flavanols
- quercetin is used to mop up free radicals, has anti-inflammatory properties
- kaempferol is used to mop up free radicals, has anti-inflammatory properties & has been demonstrated to help protect the liver & development of metabolic diseases
- isorhamnetin...studies have shown the properties to be anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory.
Anthocyanins
- strong antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory properties.
*Elderberry is an important source of redox-active anthocyanins.
*Elderberry anthocyanins can work as mitochondrial electron-carrier.
*Anthocyanins can help protect cells from toxicity.
*Neuroprotection involves cell redox state & mitochondria functionality modulation.
Phenolic Acids
- protocatechuic acid, animal trials demonstrate properties beneficial for atherosclerosis, potential neuroprotection.
- chlorogenic acid, used by diabetics, has anti-inflammatory & anti-obesity properties
Rutin - anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory.

Recommended Dosage
Since this is not a pharmaceutical product, there are no hard and fast dosage guidelines.
But we generally recommended the following:
1 teaspoon daily for children over 18 months old,
2-3 teaspoons daily for adults.
In case of acute illness:
Take the same dosage every 4 hours in case of sickness.
